Monte Vista-North Salinas girls hoops

Call it a mid-term, a statement game, a battle for supremacy.
No doubt, it's likely been circled on the calendars for some time.
All the chatter will be decided on the hardwood Tuesday when two-time defending Gabilan Division champion North Salinas entertains Monte Vista.
The first of two meetings over the course of the next three weeks, the two teams are both unbeaten in the Gabilan Division, with the Mustangs being 13-2 overall and North Salinas 12-2 overall.
Both teams have a common opponent in Santa Cruz Coast Athletic League power Scotts Valley, who beat Monte Vista by 14 and North Salinas by 27 points.
 What does that mean?
 Nothing.
What does get your attention is that in Monte Vista's 13 wins, it has outscored the opposition by 530 points.
North Salinas has manufactured 70 or more points in four games this year behind Alyssa Springs and Jordan Enos. Monte Vista did put up 91 in a win over Soledad.
Much like North Salinas, the Mustangs are virtually intact from last year, where they quietly won 18 games. Both teams are deep and can push the tempo a full 32 minutes.
