The former Salinas High power forward has made an auspicious debut for the San Jose State men’s basketball team, having started five of six games.
The 6-foot-9 redshirt junior is leading the team in rebounds at six a night, and is second on the team in scoring at 10.2 points. Rogers is averaging 25 minutes a game.Rogers, who sat out last year after one season at USF, was The Herald’s Player of the Year in 2011, averaging 14 points and 14 rebounds a game.
Former Watsonville High and MPC product Ivo Basor has appeared in three games for the Spartans, averaging just under three points a game.
