Friday's game
No. 3 San Benito (7-4) at No. 2 Alvarez (8-3), 7 p.m.
You new this was coming as soon as the pairings came out.
A rematch of last year's CCS Division I semifinal battle in which San Benito ended the Eagles run at perfection.
Alvarez did gain a measure of redemption earlier this year with arguably its biggest win, defeating the Balers in overtime.
Both teams were impressive in their postseason openers as Alvarez blanked Santa Teresa 35-0 while San Benito shutout Silver Creek 41-0.
The Balers have been nearly unstoppable in the month of November over the last three years with a 9-2 record -- both losses coming from the same opponent.
Special teams and defense produced two touchdowns last week for San Benito, who has been to the last two CCS Division I finals.
It's no secret who the Balers will have their eye on Friday as Edric Gamble had over 300 yards in total offense and five touchdowns in Alvarez's overtime win on Oct. 17.
Having compiled back-to-back 1,000 yard rushing seasons as the Eagles quarterback, Gamble is already the school's all-time record holder for rushing touchdowns with 34.
Getting receivers Jesse Carrillo and K.J. Matthews involved early could create more running lanes for Gamble.
