Pacific Grove football

So it took a quarter for the Breakers to turn the switch back on after an emotion-filled rivalry game win a week earlier.
At least the light went back on in a Division IV playoff-opening win over San Lorenzo Valley.
While there were other obstacles in the Breakers' path last week that served as a distraction, Pacific Grove refocused in its bid to get back to the Division IV finals.
Now a rematch with Monte Vista awaits in the semifinals.
The Mustangs have two losses this year -- one coming when Pacific Grove used a second-half rally for a 20-14 win in Watsonville.
The Mustangs did hold Jason Leach to a season-low 49 yards rushing in Week 2.
Duplicating that feat will be a tall order, particularly on Pacific Grove's fast synthetic surface instead of Monte Vista's damp green grass.
Leach has been on a different planet of late, having rushed for 442 yards and six touchdowns in his past two games.
