Saturday's game
King City (3-5) at Carmel (6-2), 2 p.m.
Both teams started the year 0-2. That's where the similarities end.
The Padres have rattled off six straight wins while King City has fallen out of playoff contention for the seventh straight year with three straight MTAL losses.
Quarterback Connor Marden has tossed 22 touchdown passes for the Padres, giving him 78 for his career. The school record is 92, set by Ken Johnston.
Somewhat overshadowed has been Carmel's defense, which has allowed just 55 points in five league games, only 17 in the first half.
Andres Enriquez has compiled eight sacks and has forced four fumbles from his elephant position on defense.
A bright spot for King City has been receiver Dominic Rose, who has 44 catches this year. He also has a 79-yard interception for a touchdown.
