Friday's game
Gonzales (4-4) vs. Marina (0-8) at Seaside, 7:30 p.m.
That's not a misprint.
The Spartans are 4-4 this year, 4-2 since snapping a 17-game losing streak.
A win in one of its final two games will give Gonzales its first .500 or better winning season since 2003.
The four wins are more than the Spartans have compiled in the last three years combined.
Last week's game-winning field goal from Sebastian Medina snapped a 10-game road losing streak.
Marina has struggled offensively this year, having managed just three offensive touchdowns.
The Mariners defense, which has held three teams under 20 points this season, will have to contain fleet Gonzales quarterback Chrystian Harrigan.
The senior has thrown for over 1,000 yards while leading the Spartans in rushing. Logan Gomez has rushed for five touchdowns while Fabian Acosta is coming off a five-catch, 95-yard day.
