Carmel football

This won't be the first time Carmel has hosted a postseason game on its turf.
But it will be the most meaningful.
The Padres agreed to bring in more seats on the visitors side, enabling them to host their first ever semifinal playoff battle on Saturday at 1 p.m. against Terra Nova.
This game has the makings of a shoot out as both teams have explosive offenses and are coming off 40 plus point productions in lopsided wins.
Don't be mislead by Terra Nova's No. 8 seeding. It has a win over Salinas this fall. Last year it was 10-0 in the regular season and played in the Open Division.
The fact that Carmel was able to rush for over 300 yards in its 42-14 win over Half Moon Bay does not mean a change in philosophy.
 Or does it?
The ability to grind the ball behind sophomore Covossay Windham means more time on the clock gets chewed up, limiting an opponents offensive touches.
The better Carmel runs the ball, the more it will force an opponent to defend the run, which opens up the passing game.
