Friday's game
San Benito (3-3) at Alvarez (5-1), 7:30 p.m.
A rematch of last year's CCS Division I semifinal game, the Balers are in a familiar spot, having started Gabilan Division play 0-2 for the third straight year.
The result over the last two years was a spot in the Division I title game, and a CCS title in 2012.
The Eagles are 15-2 in their last 17 games. Ironically, both losses have come at home, including the 37-7 postseason setback to San Benito.
Quarterback Edric Gamble has rushed for 625 yards and eight touchdowns for Alvarez. Last week the Balers did a good job in keeping Monterey from getting to the edge.
Alvarez is going to have to loosen up that San Benito defense by showing it can throw the ball down field.
The Eagles have outscored teams 62-13 in the first quarter.
