North Salinas-Monterey football

Friday's game
North Salinas (2-4) at Monterey (6-1), 7:30 p.m.
Depending on what occurs tonight between Palma-Salinas, the Toreadores title hopes could still be alive.
But first things first. Monterey has got to clean up its act and trim the penalties. It's tough to beat good teams committing 13 miscues.
Quarterback Carter Aldrete has 12 touchdown passes with just one pick in 98 attempts. Monterey, though, is a better team when it runs first to set up the pass.
Last week the Toreadores defense was victimized by the big play, giving up touchdown runs of 78, 38 and 62 yards in a 28-21 loss to Salinas.
That's three plays that accounted for 178 yards.
After a 2-0 start, the Vikings have dropped four straight games.
Quarterback Joseph Gutierrez has been a bright spot, leading the team in passing yards and rushing, accounting for eight touchdowns.
North Salinas' defense has given up 6, 16, 21, 28, 34 and 55 points in each of its first six games.
