Jayla Scholis

The former Seaside High and Monterey Peninsula College sprinter is headed to the University of Cal on a track and field scholarship.
Scholis was second in the state last season in the 100 meters for MPC, rewriting the school record in 11.66 -- the second fastest time ever recorded by a female athlete in Monterey County behind Monterey High graduate and former US Indoor sprint champion Sani Roseby.
Scholis also broke the MPC school record in the 200, finishing third in the state in 24.55, and helped the Lobos’ 400 relay team to a school record time of 47.14 and a fourth place state finish.
As a senior at Seaside, Scholis broke school records in the 100 and 200, winning a Central Coast Section 200 meter title as a junior, and the CCS 100 crown as a senior.
