Cross country finals

Little changed over the course of three Center Meets in the Gabilan Division this fall.
Yet, the last Center Meet two weeks ago saw San Benito sneak slightly ahead of Salinas in the girls division.
It set off an alarm for Salinas heading into Saturday's Monterey Bay League Gabilan Division cross country finals at Toro Park.
 A wake-up call?
 Perhaps.
But it's also a sign that the Balers -- who are the heavy favorites in the boys division -- are peaking at the right time in both divisions.
The Cowboys will have to rely on their depth behind Leah Meuter to gain a measure of redemption in the biggest meet of the season.
Seaside distance ace Jose Gonzalez ran off with all three boys Center Meets. That's not expected to change, although North County's Oscar Mora has closed the gap.
The Spartans could pose a threat to San Benito's dominance in the boys finals. Rain on Friday should make for a faster course on Saturday.
Behind distance ace Jorge Sanchez, Alvarez will chase a team title in the Pacific Division finals.
