Alvarez-Salinas football

Thursday's game
Alvarez (6-1) at Salinas (4-4), 7:30 p.m.
The Eagles have had a week to gear up for this epic battle while the Cowboys are embarking on their ninth straight game.
While both teams have locked up a postseason spot, the Eagles still have their eyes on a league title, sitting just a game behind unbeaten Palma.
Alvarez has been impressive in the first quarter, outscoring opponents 81-16. Last week Salinas gave up 462 yards in total offense in a loss to Palma.
The Cowboys have to contain Eagles quarterback Edric Gamble and keep him in the pocket. The senior is closing in on 1,000 yards rushing with five touchdowns of 40 yards or longer.
Zach McDermott rushed for over 100 yards and threw for over 200 yards last week for Salinas. But the running game revolves around Bruce Leighton. He has to get untracked this week.
 Both teams have big-play potential.
