Saturday's game
Redwoods at Monterey Peninsula College, 1 p.m.
Redwoods struggled last year with a 3-7 record, dropping their last four games in the old Bay Valley South Conference.
Two of their losses were to Cabrillo and Gavilan College.
After sharing the last two Coast Conference titles, the Lobos finished in a tie for second last year and were 4-6 overall, failing to make a bowl appearance.
MPC is loaded at the receiver position this fall with the return of David Hightower and Joseph Jakubowsky.
What head coach Mike Rasmussen has to decide upon is who will get them the ball. It could be a game time decision among three quarterbacks, including Palma alum Mitch Kidd.
Defensively, Rufino Calderon returns as the Lobos leading tackler while defensive tackle Jon Tuiolosega is being pursued by a dozen Division I colleges.
