North Salinas (1-0) at North County (1-0), 2 p.m.
 Snapping a 10-game losing streak was the first step in reviving the Condors storied past under new coach John Villa. It also proved the flat black helmets are not a jinx.
 The 27 points was more than North County produced in any game last year. North Salinas has won four of the last six meetings between the two teams, including last year's 50-7 win.
 If the quarterback for North Salinas looks familiar, that is because Joseph Gutierrez is the younger brother of Justyn Gutierrez, now at Hartnell College.
 The fact that first year coach Darren Spence did not tinker too much with the offense has made his late hire a smooth transition.
