Friday's game
Monterey (1-0) at Soquel (1-0), 7:30 p.m.
Unleashing its aerial attack last week saw quarterback Carter Aldrete toss three touchdown passes in the first half for the Toreadores.
That loosened up the defense, enabling Monterey to chalk up 178 rushing yards in the second half. In other words, pick your poison with this offense, which is still missing one player.
Soquel is very similar in that it picks its spots when to throw the ball. You can do that when you've got a tailback in Tylon Seeger, who chalked up 151 yards and two touchdowns last week.
The Knights defense intercepted three passes last week and forced four fumbles. Monterey produced four touchdowns outside the red zone against Half Moon Bay.
