Potentially an early peak at the Central Coast Section cross country finals in 10 weeks unfolds on Saturday with the 20th annual North County Earlybird Invitational at Toro Park.
Because the CCS finals will be held at Toro Park this fall, close to 1,000 athletes will look to get a feel for the 3.01 mile course.
Among the entrants includes Edgar Bonilla of King City, who was fifth in the state last year in the Division IV finals. Another name to watch for is North County's Oscar Mora.
Among the girls elite is Carmel distance ace Maddie McKenzie. Two teams to watch for include Salinas and Greenfield.
