Jamboree impressions

I didn't see anything that surprised me.
Alvarez looked fast. Salinas came out and showcased a small portion of its revamped offense. North Salinas moved the ball with short routes and Alisal played with a lot of energy.
A lot of players got their first taste of varsity action at the Salinas City Jamboree. As expected, all four coaches kept things simple.
The flashes that Alvarez showed offensively, though, were impressive. It took them five plays to score on their opening drive as Ceasar Ramirez had a 15-yard run and 21-yard reception.
A familiar name is quarterbacking North Salinas in Joseph Gutierrez. Last year his brother threw for over 1,700 yards. Two decades ago, his dad was taking snaps under center.
Once Salinas quarterback Zach McDermott finds that chemistry with his receivers, the offense could be potent. The defense registered a pair of sacks and a pick.
And Alisal gave sneak peaks that this year will be different. And for the first time in two years, it escaped the jamboree with no major injuries.
