Football Tour IX

Alisal (2-8, 0-6)
This is where the equity league didn't work.
The Trojans never belonged in the Gabilan Division last season. Not after graduation gutted a school-record team. Injuries depleted Alisal.
After a 2-2 non-league start, the Trojans went winless in the Gabilan Division last year, prompting a return to the Pacific this fall, arguably the most balanced league in the tri-region area.
For the third straight year, Alisal will be learning a new system as former Soledad head coach Jim Lockwood has taken the reins.
It's a homecoming of sorts for Lockwood, who spent four years coaching various levels at Alisal in the late 1990s.
"My wife's family is still here,'' said Lockwood, who was coaching in Oregon for the last decade. "And we love the cultural. It's great to be back at Alisal."
Lockwood, who was hired in late May, has brought an infusion of enthusiasm, as a record 171 kids are out for football at Alisal.
"We will have some base plays in by the jamboree,'' Lockwood said. "Obviously we have a lot of work to do.''
What Alisal has to fix is the second quarter blues, where it was outscored 129-23 last year. Spirited practices is a start in the right direction. Last year is in the rear view mirror.
