Having ended three winless seasons last fall with four wins, the expectations have grown at Marina, even if it still doesn't have a field to practice on.
The opener at San Lorenzo Valley gets my attention, if for no other reason than the Mariners led briefly in last year's season opener before injuries saddled them.
A meeting with Pajaro Valley on Sept. 19 is a tuneup prior to the start of MTAL play. Marina will visit Greenfield on Oct. 31. Last year Marina held on for a 26-23 win over the Bruins.
