The fastest female sprinter to ever come out of Monterey County has reached out to Santa Catalina sprinter Mikayla Revera by text.
Sani Roseby, who owns county records in the 100, 200, 400, 100 hurdles and long jump, sent a text to yours truly saying 'give my best to the rising quarter miler.''
Roseby, a 2000 Monterey High graduate, won the State 100 meter title in 2000 and owns the second fastest time ever run in the Central Coast Section at 11.42.
A sprint and hurdles coach at Tulane University in New Orleans, Roseby also owns county records in the 200 (23.52), 400 (57.76), 100 hurdles (13.72) and long jump (19-8 1/2).
She ran on UCLA's national championship team in 2004 and qualified for the U.S. Olympic Trials in the 100 hurdles in 2004.
Revera, just a freshman, is coming off Top 8 wins in the 400 (56.50) and 200 (25.58). She is ranked No. 3 in the CCS in the 400 and No. 3 in the 100 (12.40).
She will not run both at the CCS finals.
If you are looking to draw comparisons, Roseby won the first of three section titles as a sophomore in the 100 (11.90) and 200 (24.34).
