There will be no repeat of a league title this spring for Palma.
Getting back to the playoffs, though, is still a realistic goal for the Chieftains, despite a 6-11 overall record this year.
Palma hasn't missed the playoffs since 2003, the last year it failed to record a winning season.
With five teams from the Gabilan Division a lock to make the Central Coast Section playoffs, Palma is a half-game behind Monte Vista for the fifth spot.
The Chieftains are 3-7 in the Gabilan Division against their final five league opponents. They do hold the tie-breaker edge over Monte Vista, having beaten them twice this year.
