Marc Flores has continued where he left off over the summer, leading the University of Hawaii baseball team in home runs and runs batted in this spring.
Flores, the co-Player of the Year in the Northwoods Collegiate Summer League last year, has three homers and 25 runs batted in through Hawaii’s first 30 games. The 6-foot-5 senior first baseman is also hitting .303 for the Warriors -- who play in the Big West Conference -- leading the team in doubles, extra base hits and total bases.
A former King City High and Hartnell College slugger, Flores has handled 300 out of 302 chances at first base.
Teammate Stephen Ventimilia has cooled a bit after a torrid run that raised his average over 100 points, hitting .281 for Hawaii.
The junior second baseman has been a table setter near the top of the order.
Ventimilia, who played seven sports during his time at Monterey, recently had a six-game hitting streak snapped for Hawaii.
