Soledad coach Damien Ryan made a bold move before the start of league play, taking ace pitcher Daniel Farfan out of his comfort zone and pitching him on the road.
The result was a 15 strikeout effort and a shutout. Apparently Farfan made himself at home on an opponent's mound.
Soledad has two dynamic starters in Farfan and Andy Sanchez. Who pitches better on the road is open for debate since the team hasn't lost a road game yet.
Yet, Farfan is the savvy veteran now, having won 17 varsity games since coming up as a freshman.
If Soledad has aspirations of a league title, it will have to find ways to win on the road, particularly at reigning MTAL champion Pacific Grove, where it will play twice this spring.
