Friday's game
Watsonville (3-5) at Alvarez (8-0), 7:30 p.m.
A title sounds nice.
Yet, sharing it isn't the objective.
The Eagles need one more win to clinch the programs first ever league title outright. A win would also equal the single-season school record for wins with nine.
This is arguably the second greatest turnaround in Monterey County football history. In 1979, North County went from 0-10 in its inaugural season in 1978 to 10-0 the following year.
Last fall Alvarez was 0-10.
The Eagles are building steam for the postseason, erupting for a school record 64 points in last weeks win over Gilroy. Last week Watsonville surrounded 57 points.
Quarterback Edric Gamble and running back Ceaser Ramirez have combined for 23 rushing touchdowns and nearly 1,500 rushing yards. Kendrick Brown anchors the defense.
