The Sequel

Oh, we all knew this was coming as soon as we saw the Division I playoff bracket.
Carmel and Pacific Grove Part II.
Two weeks after Carmel ran out the final 5:45 of the game to hold on for a 40-35 win, the two teams will meet again for a spot in the CCS Division IV finals.
But is it bigger than playing for "The Shoe?"
The Shoe stays put, regardless of Friday's outcome at MPC.
Yet, a shot at a CCS title doesn't come around often. Both have won one in a combined 120-plus years of football.
Certainly, there will be no secrets when the two teams dig in.
Carmel coach Golden Anderson said "Flip a coin."
But does he really believe that? The Padres have won the last six meetings against Pacific Grove.
Then again, the all-time series is tied at 32-32-2.
I don't see this game having the same magnitude as Palma-Carmel had two years ago -- in part because that was for a section title.
But what a way to kick off the Thanksgiving weekend.
