There is still a glimmer of hope that the Mustangs could end a six-year playoff drought. But a lot would have to happen that's out of their control.
In the meantime, King City is building momentum for next season, having seen its four-game winning streak snapped last week by one point to a team that's undefeated.
The Mustangs have an identity for the first time in over a decade. Now they have to bottle it for the future, because a lot of these players will be back next season.
Gonzales is searching for answers as it attempts to snap a 16-game losing streak that dates back to last fall.
The Spartans are on pace to give up over 50 points a game this season. Offensively, Chrystian Harang has given them a glimpse of a promising future with nearly 700 rushing yards in just five games.
