As a head coach, I used to tell the veterans we're not going to take advantage of the rookies. We need these guys to be a part of the team. I don't want a player punished for being a rookie. There is a line you will not cross.
I used to have a group of players that made sure the locker room was OK. My big deal is there are different social values and economic beliefs. But you all have to respect each other.
I didn't let anyone, regardless of race, use the 'N' word in my locker room. That's disrespecting me. We never even had that kind of music blaring in our locker room. I set the tone.
As a coach, you get information from your leadership group, or the strength coach or trainer. If there's a guy that is being bullied, that has to draw attention. And that needs to be given to the head coach. He can put an end to it.
At some point, an organization has to ask itself is the talent of a player like Richie Incognito worth the distraction? For me, it would not be. After a while, it's a pattern, not an accident.

wasn't Herm the HC when Eddie Kennison taped rookie Dwayne Bowe to the Goal Post and poured Freezing Water on him and kept him there for a few hours?
