Seaside (1-0) at Aptos (0-1), 7:30 p.m.
Last year the Santa Cruz Coast Athletic League champion Mariners started the year 0-2, then rattled off 10 straight wins to reach the CCS Division III finals.
Dating back to last year, Seaside has won 11 straight regular season games after a season opening 24-0 win over Skyline of Oakland.
The up-tempo pace that the Spartans like to run was missing last week. So was the ground game, as only 12 yards came from running backs.
The health of Seaside is a concern. Three starters didn't play last week. As a result, several players spent a lot of time on both sides of the ball.
Defensively, Seaside left pieces of themselves on the field in holding Skyline to 41 yards in total offense in the first half.
