Palma football

 During its run of 29 straight playoff appearances, Palma has never started the year 0-3.
 So with St. Joseph of Santa Maria coming up and the Chieftains 0-2, is the postseason run in jeopardy?
 Not at all.
 Listen, we're two games into the season and Palma has fallen to two teams that are unbeaten.
 No, this is not ideal facing a St. Joseph squad next Friday. Remember St. Joseph beat Palma 22-7 last year at the Sports Complex.
 Right now Palma has offensive issues with one touchdown in eight quarters. It's not going to get any easier next week.
 Yet, even if Palma were to go 0-4 in non-league, I still think it makes the playoffs.
 Are changes in order?
 I think some tinkering needs to be done offensively. The passing game needs to improve. So does pass protection.
 But this is Palma. It's not going to go winless. Four leagues wins will catapult them into the playoffs.
 All streaks eventually end.
 But it's premature to call this the demise of the Palma program.
