Hartnell-Modesto football

Saturday's game
Hartnell (1-0) at Modesto (1-0), 7 p.m.
Opening the season ranked 25th in the state, Modesto compiled well over 600 yards in total offense in dismantling Merced 46-13 last week.
Teejay Gordon completed nearly 70 percent of his passes for Modesto, throwing for 329 yards while four different players had 50 or more rushing yards.
Hartnell gained a measure of redemption and catapulted themselves into the Nor Cal rankings after a 41-7 win over Los Medanos.
DeAndre Mann went over 100 yards rushing for the eighth time in his career, averaging 10.8 yards a crack last week, scoring three touchdowns.
Quarterback Curt Ceralde was efficient, completing 74 percent of his passes for 209 yards, hitting eight different receivers.
Defensively, the Panthers put a lot of pressure up front last week. The result was four interceptions, two from Anthony Smithson.
Modesto will likely be the best team Hartnell faces this fall.
