Football Tour Bonus Trinity

Trinity Christian

Roughly 50 boys attend Trinity Christian. Nearly half of them spend their afternoons dodging gopher holes and plots of sand at a middle school playing football.
Hey, it's an upgrade from the previous two seasons.
Don't assume that coaches scanned the hauls just to field a team. Several players spent the off-season working out together, making a commitment to each other.
Eight-man football is a different game. It's more wide open, faster and less complicated. One player can change the game.
Trinity doesn't have that one dynamic player. But what new coach Frank Leonard believes he has is eight players working as one when on the field.
There is size and athleticism. I also detected confidence. The players have bought into the system.
A former Pacific Grove and North Salinas head coach, Leonard also spent time overseas coaching a professional team.
Eight-man football, though, is new to him.
While a wide open field would seem to trigger a more explosive ground game, Trinity will come at you with a balanced assault, running a system that fits the teams personnel.
Scoring can come in bunches in eight-man football. But that doesn't mean you don't play defense, a thorn in Trinity's side last season.
Improvement in that department was evident in practice. Now it's time to put it in motion in a game.
