Carmel-Palma thoughts

Saturday's game
Carmel vs.Palma at Rabobank Field, 7:30 p.m.
The Padres can look back at the 2011 CCS Division IV title game loss to Palma and point to a pair of  turnovers and a muffed field goal attempt that changed the complexion of the game.
Obviously these are two different teams in terms of personnel. While the systems are similar, Palma will likely throw the ball more than it did in that 2011 title game.
Carmel has a wealth of experience in the secondary behind Jack Clark's seven interceptions last fall. While Palma is replacing eight starters on defense, the Padres have eight starters back on defense.

Carmel can look to the fact that they didn't stop Palma's rushing attack one series. Palma's offensive line totally dominated Carmel's defense and Palma's RB wasn't touched until the nnext level. Yes the turnovers hurt, but Carmel defense didn't stop Palma. Palma will have more balance on offense this year with experienced QB and Wrs and one of the better RBs in the county. Carmel has a shot of Palma defense isn't up to par with past defenses and it becomes a shootout.
