The uncertainly of St. Francis Catholic's football season has led to King City dropping them from its non-schedule in a mutual agreement among the two schools.
Instead, the Mustangs will host Alisal on Sept. 20. Del Mar of San Jose dropped Alisal earlier this month.
"The coach understood our concern,'' King City coach Mac Villanueva said. "St. Francis is a few injuries away from a forfeit."
St. Francis, a playoff team four years ago, has less than 20 players in the program.
The game is also King City's home opener and Hall of Fame game.
"We have to make sure we have a game,'' Villanueva said.
St. Francis has already told the SCCAL that it plans to forfeit games with Scotts Valley, Soquel and Aptos for safety reasons.
At this time, it still plans to play Greenfield and Stevenson in non-league.

Nobody should be surprised by this. St Francis CCC has 218 students. Even Stevenson (521) and PG (598) are two to three times larger than St Francis. Yes St Francis had a couple of good years but with 218 students it has to be near impossible to field a football team year after year unless you do a great job of recruiting.
