His first carry on the varsity as a freshman last year for Monterey was a 56 yard touchdown run in the playoffs, called back because of a penalty nowhere near the play.
 Smith is explosive out of the backfield and will be hard to catch in the open field. Once he grasps the Toreadores offense and reads where the play is developing, he will be fun to watch.
