Abandoning history

I'm kind of a traditionalist.
 So seeing North County erase 34 years of history by going with a flat black helmet instead of the Raider silver is perplexing.
 At least that is what North County was sporting at a recent football camp.
 The only football program that has had more success than the Condors over the last 30 years in Monterey County has been Palma.
 So why mess with success?
 Remember when Monterey went from its Oregon green helmet to a gold helmet. Or when Salinas abandoned the purple for Notre Dame gold.
 In both cases the teams struggled on the field. The new look was brief.
 Now in Marina's case, it has no history. So a change from a blue to a yellow helmet might be just what is needed to turn the corner.
