The Seaside distance ace was the No. 1 runner for the Central Coast Section Division IV champions, who also finished in the top 10 in the state in cross country.
Gonzales, who is just a junior this fall, will be a threat to dip under 16 minutes over 3.01 miles this season. Gonzales ran 9:46.48 this past spring in the 3,200 in track.
