All-star baseball game
In looking at the Salinas Valley's lineup for Saturday's Salinas Lions Club all star baseball game at 11 a.m. at Hartnell College, the first name that pops out is Soledad's Ivan Sanchez.
A four year starter for the Aztecs, Sanchez hit over .500 this spring, setting a school record for runs scored with 46. He also had 15 multiple hit games.
Pitcher Austin Wahl was 9-1 for MBL Gabilan Division champion Palma while Fernando Aguillon won seven games for a resurgent Alvarez squad.
Thomas Lynch led King City in hits, as did Raul Delagdo of Gonzales, while Lane Larronde shared the team lead for Salinas in multiple hit games.
Two players overshadowed by their teams struggles this past spring include Alisal's Jose Sanchez, who ripped three home runs, and North Salinas pitcher Abel Hernandez.
