CCS track trials

CCS Trials
Saturday
Gilroy High, 9:30 a.m.

Defending Central Coast Section 200 meter champion and current section 100 meter leader Jayla Scholis of Seaside should have no trouble advancing into the CCS finals in both events.
Reigning 300 low hurdles champion Jessica Davis is in fast company this spring, as her time of 45.49 has her ranked fifth. She has a career best of 44.92.
The King City senior has put her name in the hat in the 100 hurdles after running an effortless 15.00 last week.
Looking to get back to the CCS finals in the long jump for Palma is defending champion Marcus Washington, who has already leaped a career best 22-4.
Unleashing the discus 164-8 last week has catapulted North Salinas' Mario Gonzales into state meet consideration while Quentin Minor of Alvarez could be a factor in the 100 and 200.
If you're looking for a few sleepers, keep an eye on Monterey's James Welsh in the 1,600, Ryan Hall of Stevenson in the high jump, and John Irving of Monterey in the shot put.
For the girls, Onyx Gaston of Santa Catalina has a measured mark of 17-9 in the long jump.
