Alisal football coach

Leading Alisal into the Monterey Bay League's Gabilan Division this fall will be new head football coach Richard Costanza, who will be introduced to the team today.
Costanza is coming up the coast, having been an assistant coach at Santa Maria High last year.
Costanza is replacing Sunil Smith, who stepped down after nine seasons to take a job at Hartnell College.
He is replacing some big shoes as Smith guided Alisal to one league title, four playoff appearances and a single season school record for wins last fall with eight.
A special education and physical education teacher at Santa Maria, Costanza coached under Don Willis, who spent five years as a player in the NFL with the Kansas City Chiefs.
Last year Santa Maria posted a 1-9 record.
Costanza is no stranger to Monterey County as Santa Maria has faced Greenfield and Marina over the last two years in the preseason.
Alisal has seven teams on its schedule this fall that reached the CCS playoffs.
