D.J. Slaton and David Wayne Russo have combined for five of the San Jose State baseball teams' 11 wins this spring.
Slaton, who prepped at Palma High, is 2-4 with a 4.43 earned run average, and 22 strikeouts in 44 2/3 innings, while Russo is 3-4 with a 4.53 ERA.
One-time Carmel High slugger Michael Gerlach is hitting .240 for the Spartans with a .987 fielding percentage in the outfield. He leads the teams in sacrifices.
