The former Pacific Grove High and Monterey Peninsula College offensive lineman suffered a broken left ankle during spring practice at Cal, and will have surgery on Wednesday.
While the senior offensive tackle is expected to miss about four months, Tyndall should be back in time for his senior season at Cal.
The 6-foot-5 Tyndall began the spring as Bears starting right tackle.
