Seaside boys hoops

Oh boy.
Lets hope Monday's loss to San Benito doesn't ultimately cost the Spartans a league title.
Because we will look back on a game where two starters showed up late to attend an all-star football -- practice.
 Did it make a difference?
 How could it not?
These are two of your better players -- all leaguers last year -- missing the first quarter.
Basketball is a sport where just one player missing can make a huge difference on the court and with your rotations.
This is a tough position for these two players, whose aspirations are to play college football, not basketball.
The win over Palma on Friday was huge. But it means little now after falling to surging San Benito.

Then why not say, lets not hope the injury to the best player in the league who has been out and will be out the next couple weeks doesn't hurt palma's chances of a title. Full strength they are the best team in the league, but games need to be played with who they have at the time. I've seen several coaches over the years hold out players for quarters in basketball and football and even games over missing team meetings. Got to hand it to Seaside's coach for instilling discipline in his players...should be a great learning experience for the players that were out that gives a glimps of the real world. If you are late for your job, meetings, tests, whatever...there may be implications. Got to commend Seaside's coach for teaching accountability.

Accept accountability wasn't the issue. They just arrived late for the start to make an all-star football practice. Both played extensively.

2 starters? who else is playing on the all star team from the basketball. I know Michael Turner. Is Jakubowski playing in it?

These are two good kids who play both sports.Mr. Devine said himself there is going to be a conflict in times. These two players tried to respect both coach's and both teams but fell a little short on their timing. They both played hard in the game and deserve a little credit for working hard and trying to honor both commitments.

It amazes me that every time Norcalsports fan jumps on one of these board he always has to make it a Palma issue. This had nothing to do with Noah!! PalmaFan, because thats what I am going to call you from now on How about you give credit to the palma kids that are playing their butts off right now without the county's best player!!! Jackx2,Jt,Peter,Will, Jacob and the rest of the TEAM along with Paul and his coaching staff are doing a tremendous job and are in the middle of the hunt for a League title!!AND when Noah gets back they will be even more dangerous!! Give them credit PalmaFan instead of making it about Noah!! Now back to the Orginal post from Devine, Joe and Micheal seem to be good kids and I would support them ( and any kid) wanting to play in a game where there could be an oppurtunity to play in front of college scouts). I agree with Devine that the timing/date of the game is bad for everyone involved. My issue is with 10 all star practices between now and the game its forcing kids to choose. How will basketball TEAMmates take players missing majority of the basketball practice's and only playing in games? When will they get their shots in? Conditioning? Hopefully they have worked it out with their coach to get their time in the gym. Its obvious by Seaside's loss to Hollister that it clearly affected Seaside's start to the game without Joe and Micheal in the starting line up as seaside didn't get out to its normal fast start. With all that being said adversity can bring out the best in kids and I believe Seaside will still be right in the thick of it when its all said and done. Hopefully Administrators will get on board and get the organizors of this Event, which will generate funds for literacy programs can get them to choose a date thats closer to the end of football season and not in the heart of Winter Sports!!

so the second player is joe. I didnt see him on the roster for the all star game...This isnt the players fault or seasides fault. It the people who are putting the all star game together who should be at blame. Football means more to both Mikey and Joe. Obviously they are going to play in this game that could get them some more exposure...Will SB run the table and go undefeated in league? doubt it. I dont think this cost seaside a league title because I dont think they were ever going to win the title.

Andrew Jakubowsky? lol I would think you could atleast spell ur last name right.

Actually that is how you spell my name you guys are spelling it wrong. It's since I'm on here when they got to the game the score was 0 to 0 and SB has to play again at Seaside.
