After failing to qualify for the postseason for the first time in 11 years last season, Santa Catalina is 4-0-1 in the MTAL while Pacific Grove is 3-0-2.
Both teams have played defending league champion Stevenson -- who is also unbeaten -- to a tie in league play.
The Cougars resurgence can be traced to the return of Fatima Larios and addition of Lucy Scattini, who is doubling and playing basketball.
Larios played basketball last year, but elected to return to the soccer field this year, where she has six goals. Daisy Villegas has already equaled last year's season high 10 goals.
The Breakers defense, behind goalie Victoria Lis and her 64 saves, have recorded seven shutouts. Two of them, however, ended in scoreless ties.
Both teams have yet to lose a game overall this year.
