It appears that Carmel may have some company in its quest for a third straight Mission Trail Athletic League title from some unfamiliar faces.
The Padres are one of two teams still undefeated in league play, joined by Greenfield, who is off to its best league start in school history at 4-0.
Are the Bruins legit?
Well, Greenfield gave Carmel all it could handle in a 60-58 loss in a tournament back on Dec. 28.
Since then it has rattled off four straight wins -- its longest winning streak in school history.
Three guys are averaging over 15 points a game, including sharpshooter Rudy Amezcua, who sits at 22 points a night.
We are going to learn a lot about Greenfield over the next two league games as it will host surging Soledad and Carmel.
Don't sleep on the 4-1 Aztecs, who knocked off Pacific Grove.
