All-star football game

 Finally an all-star football game worth talking about.
 Putting the best senior players from Monterey County on the same roster gets my attention.
 And facing an opponent from out of the area is intriguing when the Monterey County all-stars meet an all-star team comprised of players from South San Jose on Jan. 26 at San Jose City College.
 Before it or not, this is how the all-star game originated back in 1983 when a Salinas Valley all-star team faced an all-star team from San Luis Obispo County.
 I do have two concerns.
 One is the scheduling of the game on Jan. 26.
 While having a football game the week before the Super Bowl wets the appetite, I wish this game would be played within two weeks after the high school football season is over.
 I just think there is more interest and less distractions for athletes either in winter sports or preparing for a spring sport.
 And will the game draw in San Jose on a Saturday? I think a mutual site like Gilroy would have been better.
 But based on my twitter account, there is a lot of interest.
 I am curious to see what teams from San Jose are included in this package.
