Two school records fell on the same evening from two former Herald All-County volleyball players on opposite sides at the Kelp Bed.
The Otters Julia Ashen broke the single-season school record for kills with her 423rd in a loss to UC San Diego on Saturday in the teams season finale.
Ashen, who prepped at North Salinas, broke the school mark by one kill. The sophomore is on pace to shatter the school's all-time record for kills.
Digging up some of Ashen's potential kills on the other side for UC San Diego was Carmel graduate Brittany Lombardi, who set a single-match school mark with 42 digs.
Lombardi moved into seventh all-time in UC San Diego history for digs in a season, and is two digs shy of 400, achieved by only four other players in school history.
