Final football grades I
Carmel
If Carmel can fix a few flaws on defense, an MTAL title won't be all it's celebrating next fall. There was no drop off on offense this fall with a new quarterback.
The Padres look set at the position for at least two more years after Connor Marden threw for over 2,800 yards and 29 touchdowns as a sophomore.
Tailback Holden Smith has over 3,000 rushing yards and 50 plus touchdowns in two years. And he has one more year. Grade: A.

For the Padres, 28 players should return with nearly all of them having seen a good amount of playing time this year.
In fact, in the last two games of this season 9 of the starters on offense and 7 on defense were underclassmen.
On paper it looks like Carmel will have another shot at the league title next year even as PG, Soledad, and King City are getting better.
What will happen at Greenfield, Gonzalez and Marina?
Hope that Gonzalez and Marina can figure a way to get themselves out of the quicksand of multiple losing seasons. Afraid it is going to be a long process that can be helped with coaching stability.
And which direction is Greenfield going? They shut down their JV program in the middle of the 2012 season which doesn't bode well for the future. And the rumor was that their current varsity head coach had already submitted his resignation.
