County Coach of the Year?

Here are five candidates worth throwing out there.
 You make the call.

Al Avila, Seaside: Took a team that won two games in 2011 to an 11-0 start and a league title before falling in the CCS Division IV semifinals to Menlo.

Golden Anderson, Carmel: Wasn't this the year Carmel was suppose to come back to the pack in the MTAL? Instead it averaged over 50 points a game and has everyone coming back next fall.

Tom Newton, Monterey: Forced into the MBL's Gabilan Division with just 26 kids, the Toreadores only loss in the regular season was to league champion Palma.

Jeff Carnazzo, Palma: At one point the Chieftains were 1-2 and minus five starters. What followed was seven straight wins, arguably the best job Carnazzo has done in 12 years at Palma.

Bruce Dini, Stevenson: A team that won just two games the year before, was two plays away from being 8-1 instead of 6-3.

Coach Avila! Hands down. Just look at what he has done with the program, and how much he means to the program. There is no other man out there like him.!

John...You do a disservice to an outstanding group of seniors at Carmel when you say the "everyone is coming back next year". Carmel graduates 14 seniors this year. Mason Braun and River Hain have been outstanding receivers. Misha Polovneff was a rock at middle linebacker and an all league first team selection. Isaiah Skelton and Hunter Garrison were all league first team on the defensive line. Gino Pazzaglia was a first team selection on the offensive line. Jack Carmenita, Bryan Palofax, Santana Ponce and William Tope started and were honorable mention selections for all league. And Gary Todd, Chandler Crane. Billy Rudiger plus Andrew Pulido made important contributions throughout the 2012 season.

Carmel should be good next year but they will lose some terrific players, wonderful young men and outstanding leaders to graduation in June.

How many teams lose 3 would be three year starter impact players, and two 2 would be underclass starters that decided to sit out the year for other sports, and a starting impact LB loss to injury during the season....switch up offense and defense and still go undefeated in league and get a bid to the open divisvion? That is a heck of a coaching job for a season. Any other team would have crushed their season. All the coaches are deserving.

I think you gotta consider Newton big time. Getting put into the Gabilan division less then 30 kids on the team and comes in second place. pretty damn impressive.
would seaside of been as good as they were with out the Turner brothers? No chance. Avila was given a gift when they decided to go to seaside. I think he will still win it because his team slayed the county dragon. But Newton is far more deserving.
