Contra Costa-MPC football

Living Breath Foundation Bowl
Contra Costa (7-3) at Monterey Peninsula College (5-5), Saturday, 1 p.m.
A common opponent is Hartnell, who MPC defeated 28-3 to gain a share of the Coast Conference title while Contra Costa fell to the Panthers 22-19 in overtime on Sept. 22.
A better indication of how even these two teams are can be traced back to their meetings with Los Medanos. MPC prevailed 33-16 while Contra Costa beat Los Medanos 33-14.
While three different quarterbacks threw touchdown passes for Contra Costa, wide receiver Ronald Butler caught 49 passes, 11 for touchdowns.
Running back Rashad Hall rushed for 1,300 yards and 16 touchdowns for the Bay Division champs, who have rattled off five straight wins.
Contra Costa intercepted 25 passes this fall and is plus 13 in turnover ratio. By comparison, MPC is minus 10.
Lobos quarterback Cole Houston is coming off a four touchdown effort, in which three of his five completions went for touchdowns.
Huitton Buley caught 30 passes this fall for the Lobos while the team was undefeated (3-0) when Nicholas Alarcon rushed for over 100 yards.
Defensively, Kyle Tood and Tailo Tuuu combined for 175 tackles while Chris Gervacio intercepted five passes and David Donahue had six sacks.
