Four days ago Pacific Grove was playing for first place in the Mission Trail Athletic League.
Today the Breakers are trying to snap a two-game losing streak and avoid falling to third place in the MTAL when they host Stevenson.
 Pacific Grove has surrendered 23 runs in its last two games, four more runs than it had given up in its last eight MTAL games.
 Pitching is what has triggered a late charge by Stevenson, having shutout four of its last five opponents. The Pirates pitching staff has not allowed an earned run in their last 36 innings.
 Four of Stevenson's five MTAL losses this spring have been by one run.
